The Hobson's Bay Coastal Trail is a dedicated shared path running along the shores of Port Phillip Bay. Starting right here in Williamstown, the trail winds north along the pier towards the Westgate Bridge, passing Scienceworks and some great local spots — offering breathtaking bay views, wildlife spotting, and a string of great cafés and markets along the way.

Ride north along the pier for sweeping views back to the city and across to the Westgate Bridge. A great photo stop.

A large coastal lake and nature reserve. Spot pelicans, herons, and migratory shorebirds.
The trail is mostly flat and sealed — ideal for e-bikes of all levels.
Bring sunscreen and water, especially in summer. There are water fountains at most beach reserves.
Heading north towards Scienceworks and the Westgate Bridge is a great half-day loop — around 16 km return with plenty to see along the way.
Cafés at Williamstown Beach and Altona are great for a mid-ride coffee stop.
